وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " الذَّهَبُ بِالذَّهَبِ ، وَالْفِضَّةُ بِالْفِضَّةِ ، وَالْحِنْطَةُ بِالْحِنْطَةِ ، وَالشَّعِيرُ بِالشَّعِيرِ ، وَالْمِلْحُ بِالْمِلْحِ مِثْلًا بِمِثْلٍ ، فَمَنْ زَادَ ، وَازْدَادَ ، فَقَدْ أَرْبَى " . قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَإِنَّ صَاحِبَ تَمْرِكَ يَشْتَرِي صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ . فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تَمْرِي كَذَا وَكَذَا لَا يَأْخُذُوهُ إِلَّا أَنْ أَزِيدَهُمْ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا تَفْعَلْ " .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Gold for gold, silver for silver, wheat for wheat, barley for barley and salt for salt are to be exchanged like for like. Whoever gives extra or seeks extra has engaged in usury (riba). It was said: O Messenger of Allah! The man in charge of your dates buys one sa' for two sa'. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for that man, and he said: O Messenger of Allah! My dates are of such and such a kind; people take them only when I give them extra. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not do that. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This report is in the "Sahih" in abridged form.
