Muhammad bin Suqah narrates from his father: When Amr bin Hurayth built his house, I came to him to rent a room in his house from him. He asked: What will you do with it? I said: I want to sit here and carry on buying and selling. He said: If you are saying this, then I will narrate to you a hadith about this house: This house is blessed for the one who lives in it, and it will be blessed for the one who sells or buys something in it. The reason is that I once came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had some wealth placed before him. He took a handful of dirhams from that wealth and said: O Amr! Take this. I took them, and I brought them to my mother. I said: O mother! Keep these dirhams safe, and later we will consider where we should spend them, for these are dirhams that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me, and I have taken them. Then as much time passed as Allah willed, until we came to Kufah. I intended to buy a house, and my mother said to me: O my son! When you are about to buy a house and have prepared its payment, let me know. So I did so. Then I came to my mother and called her. When she came, the money was placed before her; she took out some money of her own and put it among those dirhams (which I was to give in payment), and then mixed them together with her hand. I said: O mother! What is this? She said: O my son! These are the dirhams that you brought to me, and you told me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them to you with his blessed hand. So I know that this house will be blessed for the one who sits in it, and blessed for the one who sells or buys something in it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Abu Ya'la recorded it with these words: (The narrator says:) I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He had had a camel slaughtered and had ordered it to be distributed. He said to the man distributing it: Give Amr a share of it as well. But that man did not give me anything; he overlooked me. When I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the next day, there were some dirhams before him. He asked: Did you take the share I instructed for you? The narrator says: I said: O Messenger of Allah! He did not give me anything. The narrator says: So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a handful of dirhams and then gave them to me. After this the narrator mentioned the hadith as before. Its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
