Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6409

Al-Hasan narrates: A slave of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him to give him some wealth with which he could trade, with the profit to be divided between the two of them. So he gave the slave twenty thousand dirhams. The slave bought wine with it, then brought it to al-Ubullah. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) went out to him and broke every single jar of the wine. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed wine, the one who drinks it, the one who buys it, the one who sells it, the one who presses it and the one who carries it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and he added these words in it: "(He cursed) the one who has it pressed, the one to whom it is carried, and the one who consumes its price." The chain of this narration contains Abdullah bin Isa al-Khazzaz, and he is da'if (weak).
