Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he forbade the price of a dog, the earnings of a prostitute, the earnings of a cupper, the sweets (fee) of a soothsayer, and (the fee for) giving a stud animal for mating. (The narrator says:) Sayyiduna al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) had a male animal (a billy-goat); whoever asked for it for mating, he would give it to him. He did not refuse anyone, and he did not take any fee for the stud animal.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Yahya bin Abbad bin Dinar al-Harashi, whose biography I have not found anyone giving. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
