Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I prepared food for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and came to him while he was sitting among a group of people. I came and stood in front of him and gestured to him, and he too gestured to me: "These people as well?" I said: No. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent. I remained standing. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at me, and I gestured to him. He indicated: "These people as well?" I said: No! This happened twice or perhaps three times. Then I said: All right, these people as well (may come). I had prepared only a small amount for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). All of them came with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they all ate their fill, and still some of that food was left over.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that the narrator named Durayb bin Nufayr did not hear from Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him).
