Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar said: I got married in the time of my father, and my father invited some people. Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) was among those whom we had invited. Green curtains were hanging in my house. Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, and when he came in, he saw me standing. He looked in and saw that the house was hung with green curtains. He said: O Abu Abdullah, do you people hang curtains on the walls? My father felt embarrassed. He said: O Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him), the women have got the better of us. Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: As for someone who fears that the women will get the better of him, that is one thing, but I did not fear that the women would get the better of you too. Then he said: I will not eat your food, nor will I enter your house. Then he left. May Allah Almighty have mercy on him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
