Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he had applied a yellow dye. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "What is the reason for this dye? Have you got married?" He said: Yes! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Have you held the walimah?" He said: No! So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed him a nugget of gold the size of a date stone and said: "Hold a walimah, even if it is with one goat (slaughtered for the feast)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr bin Abi Mulaykah, and he is da'if (weak).
