Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and made her emancipation her dowry (mahr), and he held the walimah for three days. He had a leather mat spread out, which Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had brought, and he had dried cheese (aqit) and dates placed on it, and he fed the people for three days. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This report is mentioned in the Sahih in abridged form regarding the days (that is, the three days are not mentioned).
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Isa bin Abi Isa Mahan; he is thiqah (trustworthy), and there is some criticism of him that does no harm.
