Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 6139

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The walimah on the first day is a right, on the second day it is a virtue, and on the third day it is showing off and seeking reputation; and whoever shows off, Allah Almighty will expose his showing off.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, and he suffered from confusion (ikhtilat) in his memory.
