Abdullah bin Ata' bin Ibrahim narrates from his mother and his grandmother (maternal or paternal) Umm Ata' that both women said: This scene is still before our eyes, as though we were looking at Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) when he came riding his white mule and said: O Umm Ata'! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden the Muslims from eating the meat of their sacrifices beyond three days. I asked: May my father and mother be sacrificed for (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him))! What should we do with the meat that is given to us as a gift? He said: Whatever is given to you as a gift, you may use it.
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. Abu Hatim declared the man named Abdullah bin Ata' thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in declared him da'if (weak); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
