Sayyiduna Abu Umamah bin Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes himself to someone other than his true masters, upon him will be the curse of Allah Almighty, of all the angels and of mankind; no obligatory or voluntary worship of his will be accepted. Whoever swears a false oath on this pulpit of mine in order thereby to become, unjustly, entitled to the wealth of a Muslim, upon him will be the curse of Allah Almighty, of all the angels and of mankind; no obligatory or voluntary worship of his will be accepted. And whoever introduces an innovation in this city of mine, or gives shelter to an innovator, upon him will be the curse of Allah Almighty, of all the angels and of mankind; no obligatory or voluntary worship of that person will be accepted." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Another hadith is reported from this Companion about swearing oaths, which is different from this hadith.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.
