بَابُ فَجِئْتُ فَقَعَدْتُ بِالْأَرْضِ فَمَكَثُوا فِيهِ مَلِيًّا فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - رَقَيْتُ الدَّرَجَ فَدَخَلْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَقُلْتُ : أَيْنَ صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؟ قَالُوا : هَاهُنَا ، وَنَسِيتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ : كَمْ صَلَّى ؟ .

وَعَنْ مُسَافِعِ بْنِ شَيْبَةَ [ عَنْ أَبِيهِ شَيْبَةَ ] قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - الْكَعْبَةَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَرَأَى بِهَا تَصَاوِيرَ فَقَالَ : " يَا شَيْبَةُ اكْفِنِي هَذِهِ التَّصَاوِيرَ " . فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى شَيْبَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ فَارِسَ : إِنْ شِئْتَ طَلَبْتُهَا ، وَلَطَّخْتُهَا بِزَعْفَرَانَ . فَفَعَلَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَمُسَافِعٌ لَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ .

Musafi' bin Shaybah transmits this statement from his father, Sayyiduna Shaybah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the Ka'bah and prayed two rak'ahs. He saw some images in it and said: "O Shaybah, get rid of these images for me." This was difficult for Sayyiduna Shaybah (may Allah be pleased with him), so a man from the people of Persia said to him: "If you wish, I will coat them over with saffron." And he did so.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; I have not found anyone who has written the biography of the narrator Musafi'.
