Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5632

Sayyiduna Wabisah bin Ma'bad al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the Farewell Pilgrimage I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was delivering a sermon. He said: "O people! Which month is the most sacred?" The people said: "This month." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Which day is the most sacred?" The people said: "This (day)." The narrator says: It was the Day of Sacrifice. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Which city is the greatest in sanctity with Allah Almighty?" The people said: "This one (that is, the city of Makkah)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then your lives, your wealth and your honour are inviolable to one another, just as this day of yours is sacred in this month of yours, in this city of yours, and they will remain so until you appear before your Lord. Beware, have I conveyed the message?" The people said: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands towards the sky and then said: "O Allah! Bear witness." Then he said: "Let those of you who are present convey it to those who are absent." Sayyiduna Wabisah (may Allah be pleased with him), (after narrating this report,) said: "We were present at that time and you were not, so we are conveying it to you just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Yasar, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Wabisah (may Allah be pleased with him), and I have not found anyone who mentions him.
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
