Book of Hajj
بَابٌ فِي الْحَلْقِ وَالتَّقْصِيرِ وَقَوْلِهِ : لَا تُوضَعُ النَّوَاصِي إِلَّا فِي حَجٍّ أَوْ عُمْرَةٍ .

وَعَنْ قَارِبٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْمُحَلِّقِينَ " . قَالَ رَجُلٌ : وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ ؟ قَالَ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ : " وَالْمُقَصِّرِينَ " . يُقَلِّلُهُ سُفْيَانُ بِيَدِهِ ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ : وَقَالَ : فِي تِيكَ كَأَنَّهُ يُوشِغُ يَدَهُ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحٌ .

Sayyiduna Qarib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "O Allah! Forgive those who shave their heads." A man said: "And those who shorten their hair as well?" The fourth time he said: "And those who shorten their hair as well." The narrator Sufyan indicated with his hand that this carries lesser standing. Sufyan said: He gestured in this way, as if showing that something was small.
Imam Ahmad, Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and its chain is sahih (authentic).
