Abdullah bin Sharik al-Amiri narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) when they were asked about performing Umrah before Hajj in Hajj al-Tamattu'. They replied: "Yes! This is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah. You come and first perform tawaf of the House of Allah, perform sa'y between Safa and Marwah, and then come out of ihram; then, one day before the Day of Arafah, you enter ihram for Hajj. In this way you will have combined Umrah and Hajj." (The narrator is unsure whether the words are:) "Allah Almighty will have combined Hajj and Umrah for you."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A hadith about Hajj al-Tamattu' is reported in the Sahih from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and it is other than this narration.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Abdullah bin Sharik was declared thiqah (trustworthy) by Imam Abu Zur'ah and Ibn Hibban, while Imam Ahmad and others declared him da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
