عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا أَبَا عَبَّاسٍ ، أَرَأَيْتَ قَوْلَكَ : مَا حَجَّ رَجُلٌ لَمْ يَسُقِ الْهَدْيَ مَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ إِلَّا حَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ، وَمَا طَافَ بِهَا حَاجٌّ قَطُّ سَاقَ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيَ إِلَّا اجْتَمَعَتْ لَهُ حَجَّةٌ وَعُمْرَةٌ ، وَالنَّاسُ لَا يَقُولُونَ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ : وَيْحَكَ ! ! إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ لَا يَذْكُرُونَ إِلَّا الْحَجَّ ، فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ الْهَدْيَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَيَحِلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ، فَجَعَلَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْهُمْ يَقُولُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ الْحَجُّ ؟ فَيَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِالْحَجِّ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ عُمْرَةٌ " .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ .

Kurayb, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), narrates that he said: O Abu Abbas! What do you say about this: that if a person comes for Hajj without bringing a sacrificial animal along, and then circumambulates the House, he may perform Umrah and come out of ihram; and that a pilgrim who circumambulates it having brought a sacrificial animal along combines Hajj and Umrah? You say this, but the people do not say it. He said: Woe to you! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out, and with him were Companions who were reciting the talbiyah for Hajj only. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that whoever did not have a sacrificial animal with him should circumambulate the House, then perform Umrah and come out of ihram. One of them said: O Messenger of Allah! Is it Hajj? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not Hajj; rather, it is Umrah."
