Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of one who hears some words of wisdom and then relates (only) the worst of what he heard is like a man who comes to a shepherd and says: 'O shepherd! Give me one goat from your goats!' The shepherd says: 'Go and take hold of the ear of the best goat among them.' So he goes and takes hold of the ear of the dog (that guards) the goats."
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ali bin Zayd, and he is da'if (weak); there is disagreement about using him as evidence.
