Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever sets out to perform Hajj and dies, Allah Almighty records for him the reward of a pilgrim until the Day of Resurrection. Whoever sets out to perform Umrah and dies, Allah Almighty records for him the reward of one performing Umrah until the Day of Resurrection. And whoever sets out to fight in the path of Allah and dies, Allah Almighty records for him the reward of a warrior until the Day of Resurrection."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Jamil bin Abi Maymunah, whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned without stating any criticism (jarh) or commendation (ta'dil) of him. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in the book al-Thiqat.
