Ibn Sirin narrates: Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) used to spend the whole night before Friday in worship and fast on Friday. Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had established brotherhood between the two of them. Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) slept at his house. Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' intended to get up at night to offer voluntary prayers, but Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) got up, went to him and did not let him do so until he slept, and the next day did not let him fast either. Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him about it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Uwaymir! Salman has more knowledge than you. Do not single out the night before Friday for prayer, nor its day for fasting."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir.
It is mursal, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
