بَابٌ فِيمَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ .
One who fasts a day in the path of Allah

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ صَامَ يَوْمًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ النَّارِ خَنْدَقًا كَمَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ " .
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : " سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِ السَّبْعِينَ بَقِيَّةُ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ مُدَلِّسٌ ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِ الْأَوَّلِ عِيسَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُرْجَانِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ : " سَبْعِينَ خَرِيفًا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِ السَّبْعِينَ بَقِيَّةُ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ مُدَلِّسٌ ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِ الْأَوَّلِ عِيسَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُرْجَانِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever fasts one day in the path of Allah, Allah Almighty places between him and Hell a trench as wide as the distance between the heaven and the earth." In one narration the wording is: "(He places a trench) the distance of seventy years."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The chain of the narration with seventy years contains a narrator, Baqiyyah; he is thiqah (trustworthy), but he is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain). The chain of the first narration contains a narrator, Isa bin Sulayman al-Jurjani, and he is da'if (weak).
