Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5157

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to keep voluntary fasts until we would say: "Now he will not leave any voluntary fast." Then he would leave voluntary fasts until we would say: "Now he will not keep any voluntary fast." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept the most fasts in Sha'ban.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin Suhban, and he is matruk (abandoned).
