Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 5131

Qays bin Abd narrates: For a year I kept visiting Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). I never saw him offer the Duha (forenoon) prayer, and I never saw him keep a voluntary fast, except that the day of Ashura was different.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Ibn Abi Hatim has mentioned Qays bin Abd, and no one has narrated from him except al-Sha'bi, who was his nephew.
