Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 494

Sayyiduna Abdullah (bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Be a scholar or be a student, and do not be anything besides these. If you cannot do even that, then love the scholars and do not bear hatred towards them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that the narrator Abd al-Malik bin Umayr did not live in the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
