Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4933

Abu al-Fayd narrated: Maslamah bin Abd al-Malik addressed us in a sermon and said: Do not fast Ramadan during travel; whoever fasts should make it up. Abu al-Fayd said: Later I met Sayyiduna Abu Qirsafah Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him, and he said: If you fasted, and then fasted, you would not make it up.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
