بَابٌ فِيمَنْ يَتَقَدَّمُ رَمَضَانَ بِصَوْمٍ .

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ : أَرْسَلَنِي مُدْرِكٌ - أَوِ ابْنُ مُدْرِكٍ - إِلَى عَائِشَةَ أَسْأَلُهَا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ ، فَأَتَيْتُهَا وَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنِ الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُخْتَلَفُ فِيهِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : لَأَنْ أَصُومَ يَوْمًا مِنْ شَعْبَانَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُفْطِرَ يَوْمًا مِنْ رَمَضَانَ . فَسَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، وَأَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَكُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا قَالَ : أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَعْلَمُ بِذَلِكَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Abdullah bin Abi Musa states: Mudrik, or perhaps Ibn Mudrik, sent me to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask her about some matters. I came to her and asked her about the day concerning which there is disagreement whether it is part of Ramadan or not. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "That I fast a day of Sha'ban is dearer to me than that I leave a day of Ramadan unfasted." The narrator says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah about this, and each of them said: "The wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) know best about this."
