عَنْ طَلْقِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ جَعَلَ هَذِهِ الْأَهِلَّةَ مَوَاقِيتَ لِلنَّاسِ ; صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ ; فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا الْعِدَّةَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ الْيَمَامِيُّ ، وَهُوَ صَدُوقٌ ; وَلَكِنَّهُ ضَاعَتْ كُتُبُهُ وَقَبِلَ التَّلْقِينَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ الْيَمَامِيُّ ، وَهُوَ صَدُوقٌ ; وَلَكِنَّهُ ضَاعَتْ كُتُبُهُ وَقَبِلَ التَّلْقِينَ .
Sayyiduna Talq bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has made the new crescents a means for people to keep (the reckoning of months). So fast upon sighting it and celebrate Eid al-Fitr upon sighting it, and if it is clouded over for you, complete the count."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Jabir al-Yamami, who is saduq (truthful), but his writings were lost and he would accept prompting (talqin).
