Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 4796

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Paradise is adorned from one year to the next for the month of Ramadan. When Ramadan arrives, Paradise says: 'O Allah, appoint for me residents from among Your servants in this month.' And the wide-eyed maidens of Paradise (al-hur al-'in) say: 'O Allah, appoint for us husbands from among Your servants in this month.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever guards himself in the month of Ramadan, does not drink any intoxicant in it, does not slander any believer in it, and commits no sin in it, Allah Almighty will marry him every night to one hundred maidens of Paradise and will build for him a palace in Paradise made of gold, silver, ruby and chrysolite. If the whole world were gathered and placed in that palace, it would be in it like the place where a goat is tethered in this world. And whoever drinks an intoxicant in this month, or slanders a believer in it, or commits a sin in it, Allah Almighty nullifies his deeds of a whole year. So be careful regarding the month of Ramadan, for it is the month of Allah; do not fall short in it! Allah Almighty has appointed for you eleven months in which you enjoy blessings and pleasures, and He has reserved the month of Ramadan for Himself. So be cautious regarding the month of Ramadan."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and he said: No one narrated it from al-Awza'i except Ahmad bin Abyad. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: I have not found anyone who gave his biography, and the rest of the narrators of this report have been declared trustworthy.
