وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ هَذَا الدِّينَارَ ، وَالدِّرْهَمَ أَهْلَكَا مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ ، وَلَا أَرَاهُمَا إِلَّا مُهْلِكَاكُمْ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي أَحَادِيثُ مِنْ نَحْوِ هَذَا فِي الزُّهْدِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي أَحَادِيثُ مِنْ نَحْوِ هَذَا فِي الزُّهْدِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This dinar and dirham destroyed those who were before you, and my view about them both is that they will destroy you too."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin al-Mundhir, who is da'if (weak).
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Other hadith of this kind will come later in the chapter on abstinence (zuhd), if Allah wills.
