Sayyiduna al-Irbad bin Sariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When a man gives his wife water to drink, he will be rewarded for it." The narrator says: I went to my wife, gave her water to drink, and narrated to her the hadith that I had heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Ahmad and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat) recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Sufyan bin Husayn; there is weakness in his narrations from al-Zuhri, and this report is one of them.
