Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Envy is permissible only regarding two kinds of men: a man to whom Allah Almighty has given the Qur'an, and he keeps reciting it night and day, and a man hears him and says: Would that I had been given the like of what this man has been given, then I too would act upon it as he acts; and a man to whom Allah Almighty has given wealth, and he spends it in the path of truth, so that someone says: Would that I had been given the like of what he has been given, then I too would adopt the same conduct with it as this man does."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
