Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some wealth came from Bahrain. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and gave him some of it. Then he asked: "Shall I give you more?" He replied: "Yes!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him more. Then he asked: "Shall I give you more?" He replied: "Yes!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him still more. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Shall I give you more?" He replied: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave some for those after you as well." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and gave me some. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this good for me or bad?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! Rather, it is bad for you." So I returned to him what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had given me, and then I said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, after you (peace and blessings be upon him) I will never accept a gift from anyone." Muhammad bin Sirin narrates: Sayyiduna Hakim (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah Almighty to grant me blessing." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah, place blessing for him in the dealings of his hand."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith reported from Sayyiduna Hakim (may Allah be pleased with him) in the Sahih is a different one.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir.
