Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Two men came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) helped them with two dinars. Then the two of them went out, and they were praising him. I went in to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I saw so-and-so and so-and-so; they came out from you, and they were both praising you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "But so-and-so should not be saying this; I gave him an amount between ten and one hundred. Why was he saying that? One of you leaves my presence with something tucked under his armpit, and that thing is fire for him." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, then why do you give it to him, when you know that it is fire for him?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then what should I do? They come to me and ask me, and Allah Almighty refuses miserliness for me (that is, He does not approve of miserliness from me)."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of it is reported in the Sahih.
Abu Ya'la recorded it in al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
