Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym relates: I went to Sayyiduna Abu al-Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) and found him in a cheerful mood. I thought: I will make the most of this opportunity. I said: O Sayyiduna Abu al-Tufayl, who were the people whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed? Tell me their names, who were they? The narrator relates: He intended to tell me their names, but his wife, Sayyidah Sawdah, said to him: O Abu al-Tufayl, stop! Has this narration not reached you that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Allah, I am only a human being; whichever person among the believers I invoke against (and he does not deserve it), then make that invocation a means of purification and mercy for that person"?
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
