Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had gone out to take part in the expedition of Tabuk. Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) came to him and said: "Would you like to attend the funeral of Mu'awiyah bin Mu'awiyah al-Muzani?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) gestured like this with his hand, and all the mountains and hillocks moved aside. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came walking, with Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) beside him, and with Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) were seventy thousand angels. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered the funeral prayer for Mu'awiyah bin Mu'awiyah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him): "Why has Mu'awiyah reached this rank?" He replied: "Because of his frequent recitation of Surah al-Ikhlas. He used to keep reciting it standing, sitting and lying down, and that is why he has reached this rank."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Sadaqah bin Abi Sahl, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
