وَعَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا ، وَشَاهِدِنَا وَغَائِبِنَا ، ذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا ، وَصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا ، مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ ، وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، وَفِيهِ كَلَامٌ .

Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman bin Awf narrates from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated in the funeral prayer: "O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our men and our women, our young and our old. Whomever of us You keep alive, keep him alive upon Islam, and whomever of us You cause to die, cause him to die upon faith."
