وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَنَّ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ لَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ دَعَا بِخِلَقِ جُبَّةِ صُوفٍ فَقَالَ : كَفِّنُونِي فِيهَا فَإِنِّي لَقِيتُ فِيهَا الْمُشْرِكِينَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، وَإِنَّمَا كُنْتُ أُخَبِّئُهَا لِهَذَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ الزُّهْرِيَّ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ سَعْدًا .

Al-Zuhri narrates: When the time of death approached Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), he called for an old woollen cloak and said: "Shroud me in it, for I faced the polytheists wearing it on the day of the Battle of Badr, and I have kept it safe for this very moment."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that al-Zuhri did not meet Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him).
