Sayyiduna Qurrah bin Iyas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and his son would be with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you love him?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! May Allah Almighty love you as I love him." Then once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed his absence and asked: "What has become of so-and-so, son of so-and-so?" The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! He has died." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the child's father: "Would you not like that whichever gate of Paradise you come to, you find him at that gate waiting for you?" A man said: "O Messenger of Allah! Is this for him specifically, or for all of us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(No,) rather it is for all of you."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded it in abridged form, omitting the man's words: "Is this for him specifically?"
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
