Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him), who had passed away, and his eyes were open. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stretched out his blessed hand and closed his eyes. When he closed his eyes, the people of the house began to weep. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made them quiet and said: "When the soul leaves, the sight follows it, and the angels are present with the deceased, and they say Amin to whatever the family of the deceased say." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made this supplication: "O Allah! Raise the rank of Abu Salamah among the rightly guided, be his successor (a caretaker) among those he leaves behind, and forgive us and him on the Day of Resurrection."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded something similar in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Abi al-Nawwar, and he is majhul (unknown).
