وَعَنْ سَوْدَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا أُمِتْنَا صَلَّى لَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مَظْعُونٍ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَنَا ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَوْ تَعْلَمِينَ مَا أَعْلَمُ عِلْمَ الْمَوْتِ - يَا بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ - عَلِمْتِ أَنَّهُ أَشَدُّ مِمَّا تُقَدِّرِينَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! When we die, will Uthman bin Maz'un pray for mercy for us until he comes to us?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Sawdah (may Allah be pleased with her): "O daughter of Zam'ah! If you knew what I know about death, you would realise that it is harder than what you estimate."
