Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 3710

It is also reported from him that he said: Whoever recites Surah al-A'raf, or Surah al-Najm, or Surah Iqra' bismi Rabbika alladhi khalaq, or Surah al-Inshiqaq, or Surah Bani Isra'il, then if he wishes, he may go into bowing at the end of it, and it will suffice for him that he goes into bowing in place of the prostration; and if he prostrates, then he should join another surah to it. Al-Tabarani recorded both these reports in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and the narrators of both are thiqat (trustworthy); however, their chain is munqati' (broken) between the narrator Ibrahim and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
