Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I will be the first one granted permission to raise his head (on the Day of Resurrection). I will raise my head and recognize the people of my Ummah on my right and on my left." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah! How will you recognize them?" the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will have radiant foreheads and limbs from the traces of prostration, and their offspring will be their light, before them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good), and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). It has various chains which Ahmad recorded; I have mentioned it in the chapter on the Resurrection.
