Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That believer is not complete in faith who does not count trial as a blessing and ease as a calamity." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! How can that be?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because after every trial ease is to come, and likewise after every ease come trial and calamity. And that person is not complete in faith who does not remain calm in his prayer." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! Why is that?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because the one praying is in intimate converse with his Lord, and when a person is not in the state of prayer, he converses with a human being."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Aziz bin Yahya al-Madani, about whom Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: He used to fabricate hadith.
