Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 3271

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the sun was eclipsed. People said: The sun has been bewitched. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "The Hour has drawn near and the moon has split. And if they see a sign, they turn away and say: This is continuing magic."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Musa bin Zakariyya, who is a teacher of al-Tabarani. If he is al-Tustari, then al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) criticised him; and if he is someone else, then I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
