Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: On the two Eids, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to make this supplication: "O Allah, we ask You for a life that is protected, a death that is sound, and a return that brings neither disgrace nor shame. O Allah, do not destroy us suddenly, do not seize us unexpectedly, and do not hasten our death before a right is fulfilled or a will is made. O Allah, we ask You for chastity, sufficiency, piety, guidance and a good end in the Hereafter and in this world, and we seek refuge in You from doubt, from discord, and from showing off and seeking fame in Your religion. O Turner of hearts, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself; indeed, You are the Bestower."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Nahshal bin Sa'id, who is matruk (abandoned).
