Utbah bin Abdullah bin Amr narrates: My father related to me from my grandfather, who said: Once I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Eid, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call the chief of the Ansar to me!" So the people called Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ubayy! Go to the Eid prayer ground and give orders for it to be swept, and instruct the people to come out." When he reached the door, he came back and said: "O Messenger of Allah! The women as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The young girls and the menstruating women too shall be among the people, and they shall take part in the supplication."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Yazid bin Shaddad al-Hunna'i, who is majhul (unknown), and likewise the narrator Utbah bin Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As is majhul (unknown).
