Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 3220

The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates: I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Should women also go out on the day of Eid?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" It was asked: "Young girls as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! If a woman does not have a garment (that is, a sheet to cover her head) that she can wear, then she should take the sheet of her female companion."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Muti' bin Maymun. Ibn Adi says: Two hadiths are reported through him, and neither of them is mahfuz (preserved). Ali bin al-Madini says: He is thiqah (trustworthy).
