Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2973

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey and the sun declined before he set off, he would offer the Zuhr and Asr prayers together; and if he set off before the sun declined, he would offer both prayers together at the beginning of the time of Asr. He did the same with Maghrib and Isha. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Abu Dawud recorded this narration in abridged form.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
