Abu Layla al-Kindi says: Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi came with twelve or perhaps thirteen riders from among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the time of prayer came, they said: "O Abu Abdullah! Go forward." Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi said: "We will neither lead you in prayer nor marry your women; indeed Allah Almighty has guided us through you." The narrator says: So a man from among them went forward and led four rak'ahs. When he gave salam, Sayyiduna Salman said: "What have we to do with four rak'ahs? Half of four would have sufficed us, for we are more in need of the concession." Abd al-Razzaq says: This means that it happened during a journey.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; the narrator Abu Layla al-Kindi was graded da'if (weak) by Yahya bin Ma'in.
