Sayyiduna Rifa'ah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were coming back with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) until, when we reached al-Kadid or Qudayd, some people asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for permission to go to their homes early, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them permission. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, praised and extolled Allah Almighty, and then said: "What is the matter with people, that the side of the tree that is next to the Messenger of Allah is more hateful to them than the other side?" At that, everyone began to weep. A man said: "Whoever asks for permission after this will be a fool." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praised Allah Almighty, spoke words of good, and then said: "I bear witness before Allah Almighty and say: Any servant who dies in a state in which he testifies that there is no god but Allah and that I am indeed the Messenger of Allah, and (testifies to this) with a truthful heart and then keeps to the right path, that person will enter Paradise." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "My Lord has promised me that He will admit seventy thousand people of my Ummah into Paradise in such a way that they will neither be taken to account nor be punished. And I hope that you will not enter Paradise until you, and the righteous among your forefathers, your wives and your offspring, have taken up your dwellings in Paradise."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Imam Ibn Majah recorded part of it. Its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
