Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2583

Al-Dhayyal bin Harmalah narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both): "How many of you were there on the Day of the Tree?" He replied: "We were one thousand four hundred." He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to raise his hands at every takbir of the prayer. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: It is in the Sahih, except for the raising of the hands.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hajjaj bin Artah, and there is disagreement about him.
